  Colour photograph showing the façade of the Mercury Theatre in Colchester. Taken from a driveway leading up to the entrance, it shows a two-storey frontage shaped in a ‘V’ with the right hand side of the ‘V’ dominating the photograph, and the left side at an acute angle to the left. The façade has a plain brick ground floor with a recessed entrance under columns, above which is a restaurant behind vertical windows. A figure of Mercury appears on the roof at the apex of the ‘V’, and the name ‘Mercury Theatre’ in tablature on both sides above the recessed entrance. The building is unusually shaped, virtually following the contours of the hexagonal stage within. The roof and a slate grey fly tower are visible above.
