Façade of the former Globe Theatre, Consett, 1998
  • Description
Colour photograph showing the façade of the Freemasons Ballroom, formerly the Globe Theatre, in Consett. Taken from across the road, it shows a symmetrical, stone facade in three storeys and three main bays divided by piers with the outer bays wider than the centre. Large arched windows dominate the first floor, with smaller windows at second floor level and a decorated parapet above. The inscription MASONIC HALL is visible across the parapet on the right hand outer bay. The ground floor is painted in colours to match the public house next door to the right (called ‘The Freemasons’), and a canopy bearing the words ‘The Freemasons Ballroom’ covers the main entrance.
