    Colour photograph showing the auditorium at the Civic Theatre, formerly the Hippodrome and Palace Theatre, in Darlington. Taken from the stage left end of the dress circle, it shows the proscenium and house tabs, with a stage box visible either side at dress circle level. It is a rectangular proscenium with a thin spirally enriched roll moulding and a central cartouche. The boxes are decorated with delicate plaster ornament and crowned by a broken pediment. (The stage right box is in full view to the left of the proscenium. The stage left box is visible on the far right of the photograph at an acute angle.)
