Colour photograph showing the auditorium of the former Hippodrome in Derby. Taken from in front of the stage looking towards the stage left side of the auditorium, it shows a stage left box at dress circle level framed by giant pilasters carrying a serpentine pediment. A rectangular proscenium is party in shot to the left and the stage left slips of the dress circle and gods are to the right. The first few rows of the stalls can be seen in the bottom right hand corner of the photograph and the ceiling, decorated like the balcony fronts and proscenium in rich Baroque plasterwork, can be seen at top. The auditorium has been decorated in red and green and is in use as a bingo hall.
