  • Description
Colour photograph showing the auditorium of the Hippodrome in Bristol. Taken from a box stage right at dress circle level, it looks out into the auditorium showing six boxes stage left below the upper circle slips; with the dress circle and upper circle to the right; the stage, proscenium, and safety curtain just in shot to the left; the raked stalls below and the beginnings of a Baroque style domed ceiling above. There are three boxes on each level, divided by giant fluted Doric columns that carry the second balcony slips. The elliptically arched proscenium is set in a deep, panelled reveal with a niche visible at the side.
