The hotel dominates the left hand side of the postcard with the Empire slightly in the background to the right. The corner tower and its cupola and spire bearing the name EMPIRE is the theatre's dominant feature from this angle. A canopy covers the four-bay arched entrance, above which the name EMPIRE is just about visible protruding slightly from the wall. Advertising signage is visible at street-level but is partly masked by some horses and a carriage parked in the street.
