  • Description
Photograph of a black and white postcard showing the façade of The Grand Theatre within a streetscape of Islington High Street in London. The theatre is situated in the centre of the postcard and is distinguished by its protruding portico feature, which dominates the façade and frames the main entrance. THE GRAND appears twice in tablature above the columns, and two statues stand on the roof of the portico, one of which is masked by a Union Jack, which hangs from the top of the building. Street-level signage and a large poster in between the columns advertise a show called ‘A Disgrace to Her Sex’. Another sign just above the main entrance reads ‘BIOGRAPH Palace Theatre…SENSATIONAL PICTURES OF THE DAY…’
