  Black and white photograph showing the glazed entrance block of the Gateway Theatre in Chester. The theatre is situated in a pedestrianised area (at the end of a shopping mall), with the main entrance occupying the right hand corner of the façade. It is a two-storey block with a canopy bearing the name of the theatre over a double-door main entrance. The doors lead to a generous foyer with a box office and a bar area that continues on the upper storey. The right hand side elevation is also glazed offering a panoramic view. A large sloping projection, formed by the steep rise of the stadium seating inside the building, is in shot to the left.
