Details

Originally built as a sports hall but, while still new, was redesigned by Edgar Wilburn and opened in 1922 as the Arcadia Cinema, used for cinéariety. The raked auditorium is quite plain. Raked stage. There is no fly tower but 14 hemp sets. Never a particularly satisfactory theatre and generally accepted in 1990s as being near the end of its useful life.
