The Theatres Trust

Theatres Trust takes every opportunity to share our knowledge about theatres, their architecture and design, building operation, sustainability and capital development through running workshops and events.

We run an annual conference, and a series of one-day workshops providing in-depth knowledge on a range of subjects to support those undertaking capital developments of theatre buildings.

Annual Conference

Our annual conference brings the theatre industry together to discuss and debate issues that are relevant to those involved in the management and protection of theatre in the UK.

This year the conference will take place in the autumn. We will announce the topic, date and venue shortly.

Conference 16: Protecting Theatres looked at the state of the nation’s theatres and considered how to protect theatres for the next 40 years to secure a healthy and accessible theatre scene.

Previous conferences have dealt with issues such as how theatres can be protected, what their value is, and how to make them thrive, as well as specific issues around community theatres, sustainable theatres and theatres in found spaces.

Workshop Programme Spring 2017

Our spring programme of workshops aimed at those running theatres or embarking on capital projects concludes on 24 April with a free guest workshop: Understanding and working with post-war theatre buildings, c. 1950-85.
