This year’s conference looked at ways in which found spaces are converted into new, permanent theatres such as town halls, warehouses, factories, pubs, vaults and railway arches, miners institutes, meeting halls, churches, offices and other spaces, including former and derelict theatres.

ABTT Theatre Show
Ecovenue held at stand at the ABTT Theatre Show 2011. This year’s seminar was – ‘Is Sustainability Still the Elephant in the Auditorium?’ The Trust also launched The Theatres Trust People’s Choice Award 2011, which this year continues to be for products that are considered to be making a difference to theatres sustainability, either through design, manufacture or operation.
The Theatres Trust and Ecovenue both held stands at the ABTT Theatre Show 2010. We were privileged to supply WhiteLight and Arcola Theatre with a space to show off their newly launched Hydrogen Fuel Cell. View image

PLASA 11 will again see The Theatres Trust People’s Choice Award nominees being exhibited. The Trust is pleased to announe it will be hosting two seminars as part of PLASA 11 on Monday 12th and also Tuesday the 13th. See the education programme.
During PLASA 10 the Trust ran two seminars during the day, ‘Display Energy Certificates for Performing Arts Venues’ and ‘European Union Ecovenue Initiative and The Theatres Trust ‘Ecovenue’ Project’. The Theatres Trust also launched its first ‘People’s Choice’ award for sustainable theatrical products to complement the existing PLASA Innovation Award for Environmentally-focused products.
At PLASA 09 the Trust ran a Special Interest Session Green Theatres. This looked at theatres’ experiences of implementing Display Energy Certificates. The Trust was pleased to announce the award of funding from the European Regional Development Agency for its new three year project Ecovenue
We ran seminars at PLASA 07 and PLASA 08, both focusing on how theatres can make a difference in the way we tackle climate change and how theatres can improve their own environmental efficiency and use of natural resources.
