This seminar and discussion session focuses on the specific challenges of project management and technical installations associated with converting existing buildings into theatres. It includes the findings from The Theatres Trust’s annual conference in June 2011, ‘Converting Spaces – Creating Theatres’ which looked at ways in which civic buildings, warehouses, offices and town halls undergo conversion into theatres.

Mhora Samuel, Director of The Theatres Trust and Alistair Fair, the author of Trust’s Conference 11 Report, will introduce the best practice principles that emerged from the conference. The Arcola Theatre was one of the Theatres featured during this conference. David Salter, the Technical Manager, and Jon Satow, the Project Manager, will consider the particular technical issues associated with the conversion of their new theatre at 24 Ashwin Street in Dalston, East London, and how they were addressed
