Grants to help theatres improve environmental sustainability

Through our partnership with the Wolfson Foundation, we’ve awarded grants to five more theatres and £360,000 in grants will be available over the next three years.

The latest round of the Theatre Improvement Scheme in association with the Wolfson Foundation has awarded grants to five theatres to improve their environmental sustainability. The successful theatres are:

  • Chichester Festival Theatre
  • The Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond, North Yorkshire
  • Lyric Theatre Belfast
  • The Marlowe in Canterbury
  • Northern Stage in Newcastle

The projects supported in this most recent round of funding include installing solar panels, upgrading house lights to more efficient LEDs and replacing the Building Management Systems that control heating, ventilation and energy use.

We are also delighted to announce that the Wolfson Foundation has renewed its support for this scheme with a further £360,000 in grants available over the next three years to help theatres improve their environmental sustainability.

The next round of the scheme is now open for applications with a deadline of 6 September.
