We are looking for a new Chair to lead our active and engaged Board and five Trustees who can bring specialist expertise in planning law, performance, arts journalism or theatre producing.

Over the last six years Theatres Trust has undergone a significant process of transformation to raise our profile and impact as the lead body protecting and promoting theatres across the UK. We are looking for a Chair and Trustees who can work with the Director and the rest of the Board to build on our dynamic new focus and energy and lead the organisation through the next exciting phase of our development.

Chair

Working with the Director and the wider board, the Chair will develop and deliver the Trust’s strategic direction and goals. We are looking for a Chair with the ability to act as an advocate and leader in the cultural sector with an excellent track record of governance. The Chair will have a clear knowledge and understanding of issues affecting theatres across the UK and appreciation of their value in planning, regeneration and development, architecture and design, the environment and heritage.

Trustees

We are seeking five Trustees with experience and skills in one or more of the following areas:

  • Performer or creative professional in the UK live performance sector with an excellent public and industry profile
  • Theatre Producer or Executive Producer with an excellent industry profile
  • Planning lawyer with familiarity of policy and processes affecting the heritage and culture sectors
  • Arts press or media journalist with knowledge / experience of theatre / live performance

Previous Board experience is not essential for the Trustee roles.
