New owner for Streatham Hill Theatre
Theatres Trust has been made aware that Grade II listed Streatham Hill Theatre, which is on our Theatres at Risk list, has been sold to an unknown buyer.
We sincerely hope that the new owner recognises both the heritage and community value of this beautiful theatre, its potential to return to live performance use and the opportunity for this to become a cultural beacon entertaining the local community and attracting visitors from Greater London and beyond.
In the short term we would urge the owner to undertake the repairs necessary to halt any deterioration of heritage fabric. We would also ask them to contact us at Theatres Trust, as the national public advisory body for theatres, to discuss any future plans that they may have for the theatre, which we hope will chime with ours and the local community’s wishes to see the theatre restored and placed once more at the heart of the high street.
