This September, theatres around the country are opening their doors to the public with free events celebrating their architecture and history with Heritage Open Days, Open House London and Scotland’s Doors Open Days.

Heritage Open Days

England’s largest heritage festival Heritage Open Days takes place from 9 - 18 September. More than 60 theatres around the country are taking part this year, including Bristol Old Vic and the Tyne Theatre and Opera House in Newcastle – both are showing their historical and rare backstage machinery. Take a tour of the Grade II* Groundlings Theatre on our Theatres at Risk Register, or find out more about the Little Theatre Gateshead, the only theatre built and opened during WWII.

  • drop-in sessions at Streatham Space Project, which Theatres Trust worked to bring to fruition, and the recently refurbished Jackson Lane Arts Centre
