  • New ceiling hatch and replacement light rail at Criterion Theatre

    Proposals for a new ceiling hatch to improve safety and access for maintenance were supported, along with a replacement lighting frame which will improve the appearance of the theatre's balcony by removing the need for obstructive wiring.

  • Residential apartment proposed next to Novello Theatre

    The Trust responded cautiously to a proposal for a new apartment within Ivor Novello's former home next to the Novello Theatre. Further information and conditions were requested to safeguard the theatre from future conflict.

  • Hotel and entertainment complex proposed opposite Liverpool Playhouse

    The Trust wrote with concerns regarding a proposal for a new hotel with a basement casino, night club, restaurant, bar and events space. While we did not object to the development, we requested conditions to protect performances from disturbance.

  • Temporary immersive theatre proposed in Southwark's Biscuit Factory

    The Trust supported an application for change of use from light industrial to theatre use to allow an immersive theatre experience to utilise the space for a twelve month period.

  • Underbelly to return for 2019

    The Trust supported a temporary planning permission for the erection of necessary structures to allow the Underbelly Festival to return to London's South Bank in Summer 2019.

  • Extension at Faversham's Arden Theatre to provide new changing roomns

    The Trust supported a proposal by the Arden Theatre to build a side extension in order to provide separate changing rooms with toilet facilities, along with storage space to replace an existing external container.

  • Bar alterations at Edinburgh Playhouse

    The Trust supported proposals for replacement glazed screens and doors to improve fire safety as part of general upgrades to the theatre's mezzanine bar.

  • Cinema use to return to Deal Regent

    The Trust welcomed proposals to restore the Regent in Deal as a cinema. Originally built as a theatre, the Regent converted to a cinema and was most recently in use as a bingo hall but has been vacant for around ten years.

  • New development adjacent to Victoria Palace

    The Trust objected to proposals for the next phase of the Nova development because current public realm plans would leave the theatre unable to handle large vehicles necessary for get-ins/get-outs and outside broadcasts.

  • Significant new theatre and music venue planned for London Olympia

    The Trust supported and welcomed the proposed theatre and music/performance venue planned as part of a wider redevelopment of London Olympia. they will draw people to the site from a wide area and further improve London’s cultural offer.

  • Theatre proposal for remote church in Scottish Borders

    The Trust supports this proposal which would see the vacant category A listed Polwarth Kirk, described as one of the most significant buildings in Scotland, return to use as a church, music hall and theatre. The facility will bring theatre together.
