The document outlining Cabinet Office plans for arms length bodies reported in The Daily Telegraph on the 24 September 2010 makes reference to The Theatres Trust as one of the bodies to be abolished. We would like to assure everyone that there are no plans to abolish The Theatres Trust.

The Theatres Trust will present its first People’s Choice Award on its Ecovenue stand (2-M28) at PLASA2010, Earls Court on Tuesday 14 September 2010 at 6.00pm. Promoting best practice in sustainable theatre technology, this award will be selected by visitors to PLASA 2010 from lighting and stage equipment used to illuminate an exhibition outlining the work of The Theatres Trust’s Ecovenue project.

The Theatres Trust remains a body corporate and the objects of The Theatres Trust Act 1976 and The Theatres Trust (Scotland) Act 1978 will remain in force.

The Theatres Trust announces the first twelve venues participating in its European Regional Development Fund backed environmental sustainability project, Ecovenue. Ecovenue aims to make a real difference to the environmental performance of 48 London theatres, leading the way in promoting the reduction of carbon emissions.
