ITEAC 2010 a Major Success

21st June 2010

Held at the Central Hall, Westminster 12-15 June, the International Theatre 2010 Engineering and Architecture Conference attracted a total of 420 delegates and speakers. There were 220 from the UK, 56 from the USA and 22 from Australia, 19 from the Netherlands, 15 from Canada and 19 from Germany plus many groups from other countries including eight from Greece, seven from Sweden and six from Singapore. Delegates represented 31 countries, confirming the international aspect of the event.

There were over 40 hours of professional presentations and discussion across the three days, focusing on buildings and equipment for the performing arts. Each delegate could choose to attend a third of the sessions, depending on their particular interests: planning, architecture, lighting, audio-visual, rigging and machinery, acoustics or sustainability.

Forty industry sponsors supported the event with money or services with Stage Technologies as the main, or ‘Platinum’ sponsor. Steeldeck provided rostra to create a debating chamber in the Lecture Hall and Stage Electrics supplied the full audio-visual installation in the three break-out spaces and in the Library which incorporated registration, ETP’s bookshop and the food and beverage services.

The new ABTT publication, Theatre Buildings – A Design Guide, was launched on the Monday evening the Conference. Other social networking events included a dinner trip on the River Thames on the Sunday evening and the Close of Conference Party on Tuesday evening where rides in private capsules on the London Eye could be won in a prize draw.
