Library & Archives
In January 2010 we opened our new Resource Centre on the first floor of 22 Charing Cross Road. This houses our special collections, library and archive and provides dedicated spaces to access these.
Accessing our Archive, Special Collections and Reference Library
Access to the Resource Centre is by appointment, Monday-Friday from 10am-4.30pm.
Find out more about our resources, download our Guide to using Theatres Trust Resources and the Resource Centre (PDF).
View our donated special collections on archives hub.
Explore some of our archives on Google Cultural Institute.
(Please note only a small amount of the archive has been catalogued. Please contact us if you can’t find what you are looking for.)
Theatres Trust’s specialist Reference Library holds over 1500 books and focuses on theatre buildings and their history, architecture, design, and operation. We also look after the Library of the Association of British Theatre Technicians.

Open up! Archive Project 2016
From 08 to 26 August, Theatres Trust ran its second annual internship, thanks to a Sharing Heritage Grant form the Heritage Lottery Fund. Five interns joined us for three weeks to help us catalogue our architectural drawings of Regional Theatres, and created the Trust’s first ever online exhibit through the Google Cultural Institute. Summer Archive Project 2015
From 29 July to 19 August 2015, The Theatres Trust ran its first Summer Internship. This year, our focus was on improving access to The Theatres Trust’s archive of architectural plans of theatre buildings. The result was a publically accessible catalogue of our London theatre plans, which can be found above. Find out more about the Summer Archive Project.
