Opportunity: Evaluation Consultant

Theatres Trust is looking for an Evaluation Consultant to support the monitoring and evaluation of our new programme - Resilient Theatres: Resilient Communities, that aims to help theatres in need across the UK.

Made possible thanks to a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund as well as funding from the Pilgrim Trust and Swire Charitable Trust, the project aims to reduce the threat to At Risk theatres and strengthen the theatre sector’s resilience following a difficult few years due to the pandemic.

The project will deliver three years of activities, including:

  • Third-party grants programme with a focus on strategic and organisational development and viability.
  • Training and knowledge sharing through:
    - Cohort in-person training for six theatre groups per year (18 in total) from our Theatres at Risk Register
    - Webinar training series – three per year for 50-80 participants in each (nine sessions reach c.450 participants).
    - Development of supporting practical advice notes
  • Commissioning of Adviser Skills Bank – 84 days mentoring and advice provided across the Theatres at Risk portfolio.

To help us do this, Theatres Trust is looking to appoint an experienced, competent consultant to deliver a comprehensive project evaluation, which is to include:

  1. Development of a monitoring and evaluation framework
  2. One day training session on best practice in Project Evaluation for the Theatres Trust team
  3. Development of and training in an evaluation ‘toolkit’ for use by the delivery team
  4. Overseeing the collection of data by the Project Coordinator throughout the project
  5. Acting as mentor and editor for the completion of end of year interim project evaluation reports
  6. Acting as mentor and editor for the completion of final project evaluation report

The evaluation process and reporting should be in line with the current National Heritage Lottery Fund guidance on evaluation.

You will be supporting us at an exciting time as we develop and deliver our largest funded project to date. The role offers an opportunity to play a key supporting role in delivering on our objectives.

We strongly encourage people with disabilities and people who are from ethnically or culturally diverse backgrounds from across the UK to apply as Theatres Trust is keen for the team and its work to be informed by and representative of the diverse communities it serves.

Maximum budget £10,000 including expenses but excluding VAT

Travel may be required to attend meetings and training at our London office.

Deadline for applications: 12 noon on Wednesday 26 October 2022.
