Join Theatres Trust’s Board

The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport wishes to appoint three outstanding individuals as new Trustees of the Board of the Theatres Trust.

This is an exciting time to become part of Theatres Trust’s story as we prepare for our 50th anniversary in 2026, when we will launch a new strategic plan that lays out a roadmap for how best to support, empower, and sustain the theatre sector over the next decade.

Trustees will be passionate advocates for the theatre sector and the role theatres play in their local communities. Trustees should also be able to demonstrate a commitment to promoting cultural diversity and inclusion, engaging with communities outside London and taking a UK-wide perspective to decision-making, and show an understanding of good governance.

In this round, we are specifically seeking Trustees with expertise in one of the following areas:

  • Communications and Marketing, including digital media, press relations, or branding.
  • Leadership in the Creative Industries, ideally within a theatre building.
  • Architecture, ideally with recent experience of theatre capital projects.

More information about Theatres Trust, the responsibilities of Trustees and the terms can be found in the Trustee Recruitment Pack.

As an arms-length public body, appointments to the Theatres Trust’s Board are made by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. Please do not send applications directly to Theatres Trust.

Full information on how to apply can be found on the HM Government Public Appointments website.

Deadline for applications: Wednesday 28 May 2025.
