Theatre Green Book becomes an independent organisation
Theatre Green Book has become an independent not-for-profit organisation, with charitable status pending.
The new organisation will be chaired by Abigail Pogson, in-coming Chief Executive of the Barbican Centre.
The new organisation has been created to build on the growth of Theatre Green Book across the UK and internationally. In less than five years since the first volume was released, Theatre Green Book has had a transformational impact on theatre-making. Since the launch of Version 2 in June 2024, over 2000 people have joined 50+ online and live Theatre Green Book events, and there are now 350+ UK organisations and 650+ theatre workers publicly committed to achieving its standards.
As a founding partner and secretariat to the project, Theatres Trust is proud of the role we have played in the Theatre Green Book story so far.
We will continue to play an important role, providing guidance, expertise and sector links to the new organisation as Strategic Partners, helping to drive the future Theatre Green Book as members of the organisation's strategic partnership council.
We are delighted that Abigail Pogson has been appointed as Chair as her environmental credentials are first rate. Theatres Trust looks forward to working with Abigail in this new chapter for this hugely important initiative and we will continue to play our part to support theatres across the UK to rise to the challenge of the climate emergency.
