Increase to cultural spending in Scotland
The Scottish Government’s draft budget announcement reconfirms an additional £20m for culture in the next financial year.
Finance Secretary Shona Robison has reaffirmed the pledge to increase cultural spending for the next financial year by £20m and to increase culture spending by £100m by 2028-29.
Theatres Trust welcomes the Scottish Government’s recognition of the importance of culture and the necessity to invest in it. However, we do understand that there is concern about the standstill in funding for National Performing Companies, including Scottish Ballet, Scottish Opera, and the National Theatre of Scotland.
