In memory of Axel Burrough
Theatres Trust is saddened to hear about the death of former Trustee, architect Axel Burrough.
Axel was Director of Levitt Bernstein and led the major cultural and arts projects within the practice up until his retirement in 2011. He worked on ground-breaking and award-winning projects such as the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester and LSO St Luke’s.
His other notable projects include the King's Lynn Corn Exchange, the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, Stratford Circus and the Theatre Royal Stratford East, The Regent Theatre and Victoria Hall in Stoke-on-Trent.
Axel was a Trustee for Theatres Trust between 1996 and 2002, and was the first architect appointed to our Board. After his term on the Board, he continued his support of Theatres Trust’s work as a Life Friend.
We send our condolences to his family and friends.
