Fifty@50 - marking our 50th anniversary

In our anniversary year, we are highlighting 50 of the theatres we've helped over our half century of supporting the UK's theatre sector.

2026 marks 50 years since Theatres Trust was founded. 22 July 1976 to be precise. And over those 50 years, hundreds of theatres have benefitted from Theatres Trust’s support.

Our expert and impartial advice has ensured organisations can operate their buildings more effectively, save and raise money, build strong relationships with stakeholders – and ultimately keep their doors open so they can continue playing a vital role in their communities.

Through our various grant programmes, we’ve funded small capital projects to enable theatres to be more resilient, more inclusive and more environmentally sustainable, as well as providing strategic grants to allow Theatres at Risk to take the next steps towards revitalisation.

To celebrate this special anniversary year, we are going to be shining a light on fifty of the theatres we’ve supported.

Our Fifty@50 campaign will be kicking things off later this week and we’ll be posting regularly over the coming months about some of the brilliant buildings we’ve supported. Look out for our posts across our social media channels and on our website.
