Spotlight on Corporate Partner: Ferco Seating
As part of our series highlighting the work of our Corporate Partners, Ferco Seating provides an in-depth look at one of its recent projects at a theatre in Barnsley.
At The Lamproom Theatre, the seating was never going to be an afterthought. For its 2026 auditorium refurbishment, the Barnsley theatre wanted greater comfort and practicality without losing the character that makes the venue unique. Ferco supplied and installed 186 bespoke Beaufort seats, designed to feel at home within the theatre’s distinctive interior.
Set inside a Grade II listed former Methodist chapel, The Lamproom combines black velvet walls, navy and antique-gold detailing, and distinctive miners’ lamps – a nod to Barnsley’s heritage. The new Beaufort seats continue that visual story.
Deep navy recycled velvet is paired with black wooden armrests and back panels, finished with bespoke gold embroidery featuring The Lamproom’s own logo.
We wanted to improve audience comfort while retaining The Lamproom’s character. The new seating looks fantastic, is incredibly comfortable, and complements the theatre perfectly. Ferco Seating also delivered our specification exactly, including the embroidered theatre logo on the seat backs.

The details are practical as well as beautiful. Integrated cupholders add convenience, while removable seating provides flexibility for wheelchair users.
The wooden backs also accommodate sponsorship plaques, helping supporters become part of the theatre’s story. Ferco also project managed wider auditorium improvements, giving the theatre a single point of contact throughout the refurbishment.
The result is a contemporary, comfortable auditorium that respects its heritage – a seating scheme that feels completely, unmistakably The Lamproom.
