Leith Theatre awarded £5m from Visitor Levy

Theatres Trust is delighted that Leith Theatre will be one of the recipients of the proceeds from Edinburgh’s Visitor Levy, benefiting from £5m over the next 3 years.

Leith Theatre has been on our Theatres at Risk Register since 2016 but has taken huge leaps forward in recent years. This additional funding is an incredible boost for the theatre and will help secure its long-term future. It also underlines the council's belief in the project and the work being undertaken by the team at Leith Theatre Trust.

We hope that other local authorities considering tourist taxes will follow City of Edinburgh Council’s lead and reinvest the income in their city’s culture infrastructure, which such plays a significant role in attracting visitors.
