  • Upwards extension to fly tower at Aldwych Theatre

    Planning permission and listed building consent was supported for replacement of the grid to provide loading required for modern shows, necessitating increased height to the fly tower. A mansard extension will provide additional dressing rooms.

  • Refurbishment and development to re-open Theatre Royal Margate

    Planning permission and listed building consent to undertake repairs, refurbishment, alteration and extension to support the theatre's re-opening was supported.

  • Alterations at the West End's Lyceum to provide a premium bar

    Listed building consent was supported for internal alterations within the modern part of the building to provide a new premium bar/lounge.

  • Investigative works at Margate Winter Gardens

    Listed building consent to enable the opening up of various areas of structure and fabric was supported, to inform a future programme of refurbishment and alteration enabling the venue's re-opening.

  • Theatre proposed for former courtroom in Haverfordwest

    Planning permission for change of use to a theatre for the long-vacant courtroom in Haverfordwest's Grade II* listed Shire Hall was supported, although we urged engagement on their future listed building consent for fit-out.

  • Investigative works at Theatre Royal Margate

    Listed building consent was supported for investigative works including lifting of areas of flooring and ceiling in preparation of future refurbishment and development to re-open the theatre.

  • Extension and refurbishment at Norwich Playhouse

    Planning permission for an extension of the theatre's bar along with internal alterations to provide additional WCs and a lift, and refurbishments within the auditorium and back of house, was supported.

  • Upgrades at Dartford's Orchard Theatre

    Planning permission was supported for various alterations and installations associated with improving the theatre's health and safety infrastructure.

  • Objection to lawful development certificate for gym use at Amulet

    We urged refusal of a certificate to confirm gym use on the Amulet's first floor because we do not believe it to have been operating for a continuous period of ten years, and that in any case the building would in fact be in a mixed use including theatre.

  • Change of use of Longridge's Palace to play centre

    Change of use of the Palace to a play centre was conditionally supported, as long as evidence is provided showing continued cinema use is not feasible. The plans show this scheme would be reversible.

  • Replacement scheme for Derby Assembly Rooms

    Whilst we made no overall comment or objection to a replacement development at the site of Derby's Assembly Rooms, we urged prioritisation of bringing forward replacement large-scale theatre in the city.

  • Re-seating of Gallery level at Blackpool Grand

    Listed building consent was supported for re-tiering to original levels within the Gallery and replacement of cushioned bench seating with standard seating, to improve comfort and enable greater use of this level.
