  • Revised plans for residential redevelopment of Eccles' Crown

The Trust urged submission of further information to explain and justify external alterations compared to approved plans due to impact on heritage and expressed concern at loss of community floorspace.

  • Revisions to plans for Southport Theatre & Convention Centre

The Trust continued to support the granting of planning permission for a replacement theatre and convention centre, but urged further internal refinements to layout and function.

  • Objection to development next to East Riding Theatre

The Trust has objected to plans for a residential development next to East Riding Theatre in Beverley due to loss of service access for larger vehicles and potential noise conflicts with new occupants, urging a re-design to protect the theatre.

  • Residential redevelopment of Deal's former Theatre Royal

Permission had been granted for demolition of the former theatre, most recently an arcade and snooker club, in 2019 but this had lapsed. A fresh application had been submitted, to which we continued to urge consideration of retention and alternative use.

  • Alterations to stalls bar at Sunderland Empire

The Trust supported a refurbishment project within the stalls bar which will also enable relocation of an accessible WC to a better position.

  • Replacement CCTV at London's Coliseum

The Trust raised no objection to the installation of new and replacement CCTV cameras at the Coliseum.

  • Revised design for aisle-end guardrails at London's Palladium

The Trust had previously supported the granting of listed building consent, but due to design issues and insufficient loadbearing of the original proposal new plans were submitted.

  • Amended plans for development adjacent to Lighthouse Poole

The Trust supports revisions to plans for a mixed use development adjacent to the theatre. There are now no homes which directly overlook the Lighthouse’s servicing bay and there is much greater separation between residential units and the Lighthouse.

  • Bury Met to install disabled lift in auditorium

The Trust is supportive of this application, which would improve disabled accessibility within the main auditorium through the installation of a lift to the raised platform.

  • Live performance use proposed for Chichester Feather & Black

Theatres Trust does not object in principle to the location of the site for live shows and music covering all aspects of performance and celebrity acts, but greater consideration needs to be given to how the building will function.

  • Demolition proposal for former Theatre Royal in Deal

Although the Trust did not object to the demolition of the former Royal, which was also a cinema and then split into a snooker hall and amusement arcade, we urged options for retention to be explored and evidence its social function is no longer required.

  • Fresh proposal for Bournemouth's former Odeon/Regent Theatre

Following two previous refused applications for demolition and replacement high-density housing scheme, the Trust again objected to a new partial façade-retaining proposal on the basis of continued lack of evidence cultural use is no longer required.
